Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick arrives with a relatively small coaching staff, accompanied only by assistant coaches Marcus Sorg, Toni Tapalovic and Heiko Westermann. The club brought in a new fitness team to work alongside him, but now Flick sees fit to bring in two more match analysts.
According to RAC1, Flick has hired two match analysts he knows from the German national team, as have Sorg and Westermann. The first is Dr. Stefanop, who was part of Germany’s senior touchline analysis team from 2011 to 2023, working with Flick during the 2014 World Cup victory and the end of Flick’s reign in December 2023 time to leave.
Meanwhile, 26-year-old Michael Hasemann has been part of the DFB’s youth system for many years and last summer he was promoted from Under-16s to Under-19s analyst.
Hassmann received his UEFA professional license last summer and has also been playing amateur football after playing as a centre-back for Osnabrück and Cologne’s B teams. Hassmann may have crossed paths with Westermann, particularly during their time with Germany’s youth teams, with Westermann also being part of the Under-19s before joining Barcelona.
Dr. Nopp and Dr. Hasemann will join current film analyst Francesc Marti and match analyst Guillem Escriu as part of the existing analysis team. Flick is understandably keen to get input from people he trusts himself as well as existing staff, whose numbers remain close to those of Villarreal and Aston Villa’s Marcelino Garcia ·Half of the likes of Toral or Unai Emery.
