Liverpool and Tottenham are set to duke it out in the transfer market in 2025, with the signing of Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenho expected to be a common agenda for both sides, according to GiveMeSport.
The 24-year-old is one of the most improved young players in the Premier League, having already scored three goals and one assist this season, and is rumored to have spent more than a year and a half with the Cherries .
Bournemouth are likely to let go of the player, but GMS warn any interested parties won’t come cheap as his current employers “could demand a significant fee” – although an exact figure is yet to be made clear.
Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly believed to have shown keen interest, but they will face further competition as Newcastle United are said to be among them.
All three clubs would be a significant upgrade over Bournemouth and would provide Semenho with a chance to challenge for European qualification, so the south coast side will struggle to keep hold of him.
An interesting game coming up between Liverpool and Tottenham
Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have recently brought in young players from England and Semenho is the latest player on their radar, which is unsurprising given his stellar performances at Bournemouth over the past few months.
The striker is capable of playing in a front three and his ability as a second striker could make him a handy attacking midfielder in attack. If Semenho does join Tottenham Hotspur rather than Liverpool, Angie Postecoglou might particularly benefit from such a player.
However, there’s every reason to believe he could join Liverpool as well, especially given the Reds will be in the market for a replacement for Mohamed Salah and Semenho’s effectiveness in the final third could tempt them.
A January move to either side is unlikely for Semenho, but things will undoubtedly heat up next summer. It will be interesting to see which other teams are monitoring the striker and how much transfer fee Bournemouth would need to part with their prized asset.
Transfermarkt values Semenho at around £17m, and if Liverpool or Tottenham Hotspur can acquire him for anywhere near that, it would be a bargain.
