Real Madrid have been plagued by injuries like the rest of the team and were hit again after Dani Carvajal’s season-ending knee problem. Eder Militao is expected to return in Real Madrid’s return game against Celta Vigo, but it will be some time before his old partner David Alaba returns.
According to Relevo, Alaba’s recovery has been delayed for some time. Alaba has been training alone for the past month and while he is gradually getting back into shape, his chances of returning in November are becoming increasingly slim. The initial thought was that he could return in November, while other reports suggested he would be fit by early December, but now he may not be back in action until January 2025.
The Austrian’s absence is being felt even more acutely with Carvajal sidelined, while Jesus Vallejo is unlikely to be trusted, leaving Carlo Ancelotti with just five defenders, plus Enter Aurelian Chuameni, who has now played as a central defender many times. Eduardo Camavinga has also played at left-back, but the reality is that Real Madrid lack depth amid a turbulent schedule. The plan remains to not make any rearguard action in January, at least at this point in time.
